Honor Tree at EBC

Loved ones will not be forgotten this holiday season.
At the Edna Burton Senior Center an ‘Honor Tree? has been placed by the Ortonville Garden Club to memorialize those who have died, honor current and past military members, and give good wishes to everyone this holiday season. The inspiration for the tree comes from Sandy Willett, former Brandon Township Trustee for more than 20 years and member of the Garden Club who died earlier this year.
‘Sandy touched a lot of people,? said Susan Nassar, a member of the Club. ‘She was always smiling. She was beautiful inside and out.?
Memories, wishes, and thoughts of gratitude can be placed on the tree.
‘It’s just the time for remembering and giving blessings,? said Nassar. ‘You’re thankful for their friendship; thankful for taking care of us overseas.?
To also honor Willett and loved ones, the club has created a red, white, and blue ‘Gardening Angel? float for the village parade.
‘She was the smile, she was the friendship, ? said Nassar of Willett. ‘I just want everyone to go out there and hang their own memory bulbs.?
Those who wish to place their decorations on the tree may do so at any time. The Edna Burton Senior Center is located at 345 Ball St., Ortonville. For more details: Annette Beach, 248-627-6447.
