Hunter to lead Oxford Rotarians

Community service is in Andrew Hunter’s blood.
‘I come from a family that believes very strongly in giving back to the community,? said the new president of the Rotary Club of Oxford.
Hunter was recently installed as the club’s president for 2006-07. He’s the second member of his family to lead a group of Rotarians.
Sometime in the 1940s, Hunter’s great-grandfather served as president of the East Jordan Rotary Club in northern Michigan.
‘I was lucky to grow up in a family that was always about paying attention to what others are doing to help out the community,? said the Brandon Township resident and investment representative for Edward Jones in Oxford.
Hunter’s been a member of Oxford’s Rotary Club for eight years.
‘I joined a number of organizations when I got into town,? he said. ‘Rotary really just clicked with me as far as the people that are involved.?
Rotarians are ‘very unique? in that ‘they are the leaders of this community,? Hunter explained.
‘When you’ve got 60 people in a room that are all trying to make things better for the place they live in and work in ? it’s a neat feeling to be a part of that,? he said.
As president, Hunter hopes to help the club grow in membership, influence and presence in the community.
‘Rotary is always trying to be a valuable asset to the community,? he said. ‘I guess my goal is to help the club become even a bigger asset to the community.?
The Rotary Club of Oxford meets at 12 noon every Tuesday at Oxford Hills Golf and Country Club.

‘I’d be happy to talk to anybody that’s interested,? he said.
