Throw your shoes on quick and run out of the house’the ice cream man is here.
This time however, the ice cream man is actually sevearal volunteers from the Clarkston Free Methodist Church passing out free treats to promote Vacation Bible School.
The volunteers will flood the streets surrounding the church with ice cream on July 29 around 3 p.m. The church decorated its own vans with signs and balloons this past weekend in preparation for the event.
Kate Peterson, a volunteer with the church’s children’s programs, said the vehicles are going to be equipped with speakers to play the type of music that alerts an entire neighborhood to the approaching of the ice cream man.
Peterson said they will be distributing ice cream sandwiches and bars. She added the group will be doing this again in late August to promote the church’s fall programs.
Clarkston Free Methodist’s VBS is July 31 through August 4 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This year’s theme is ‘Trading Places.? For more information call (248) 623-1224. The church is located at 5482 Winell Street.
