It’s a guy thing

Psst . . . fellas . . . come here.
Are you all stressed out? Are you in desperate need of some fun and relaxation? Are you looking for just one day to call your own?
Then get ready to head on over to Devil’s Ridge Golf Club (3700 Metamora Rd.) in Oxford Township on Saturday, Oct. 29. That’s when the first annual ‘It’s a Guy Thing? event is slated to take place.
‘It’s a Guy Thing? is being organized by five guys ? Oxford Township Parks and Recreation Director Ron Davis, Oxford Township Supervisor Bill Dunn, Jeweller Mark A. Young, Oxford Leader Publisher Jim Sherman, Jr. and Oxford Leader Editor C.J. Carnacchio.
With all the women’s events in Oxford throughout the year, these guys decided it was high time the men had something, too.
The event will kickoff with a two-man, 18-hole golf scramble from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
A buffet-style dinner will be served 4-5:30 p.m. followed by a beer and wine tasting event put on by the Oxford Wine & Beverage Co. from 5-7 p.m.
Once you’ve had your fill of fantastic golf, terrific food and fine adult beverages, settle in for the big euchre tournament from 7 p.m. until midnight.
College football games will be aired all day long on a big screen TV inside the Devil’s Ridge clubhouse.
The cost to participate depends on what you want to do. Guys love choices, so this event offers a variety of packages.
Guys who want to enjoy everything the day has to offer can purchase the $100 package and enjoy golf, buffet dinner, beer/wine tasting and the euchre tournament.
Men who just want to stay indoors are welcome to enjoy the buffet dinner, beer/wine tasting and euchre for $50.
Guys who only want to golf are invited to do so for $50.
If you just want to play in the euchre tournament or only attend the beer/wine tasting, it’s $20 per person for either of those portions of the event.
In addition to the package prices, all ‘It’s a Guy Thing? attendees are asked to please bring at least one nonperishable food item for the Oxford/Orion FISH food pantry.
Profits from ‘It’s a Guy Thing? will be split 50/50 between two charities ? Wheelin? Team 457 and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Founded in 2003 and based at American Legion Post 457 in North Branch, Wheelin? Team 457 helps people, including veterans, confined to wheelchairs participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor sports and activities.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital seeks ways to cure and prevent pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.
