Goodrich – When family and friends get together every year at Kathy Adair’s house, it’s not the usual barbeque, it’s a garden tea party.
Donning Renaissance era hats and dresses, the ladies and children sip their tea, as the men, dressed as servants, wait on each table.
‘The men are so willing to do this, they really enjoy it,? said Adair. ‘My husband and son were two of the servers.?
The tea party on June 30 marked Adair’s third annual tea party. ‘My family come from as far away as Texas, North Carolina and Chicago,? said Adair. ‘I have so many friends that I have known for years. Some I know from the garden club and my church, the Goodrich United Methodist Church.?
This year’s theme was ‘Wild and Crazy Shoes.? The entertainment was provided by Stephanie Weil who played the marimba. The game was much like the fairy tale ‘Cinderella.? Everyone passed around a shoe to try on. If it fit, Adair said they got to keep the shoe.
Already planning for her fourth annual tea party, Adair said the theme next year will be ‘Vintage Hats.?
‘I will continue to give these tea parties every year unless I run out of themes or steam,? said Adair.
