Johnson Jaguars finish undefeated in tourney

The Johnson Jaguars softball team, comprised mainly of Goodrich youngsters, finished first in the 12 and under division at the Grand Blanc Tournament July 24-26.
The Jaguars had a perfect run, with four wins going into the playoffs and winning three playoff games on Sunday, July 26. On Friday, the Jags played Grand Blanc, winning 6-1. Saturday morning, the team played Millington with a 5-3 win. They followed later in the day with a 10-0 victory in a 4-inning mercy game. The day was topped off with a 14-3 win against the Mt. Morris Lady Panthers.
The Sunday playoff games began for the team at 10 a.m. with a win against Clio, 11-7. At noon, the Jaguars faced Fenton for a second time in a fairly close game, which they pulled out 7-4. The championship game was against the Algonac Storm team, who also was undefeated throughout the tournament. There was stiff competition, but the Jaguars were victorious with a 7-6 game.
The Jaguars received strong pitching for the weekend from Melanie McCormick, Megan Smith, and Jenna Gilmour. Gilmour also slugged two home runs, while Alisha Fischer, Nicole Hill and McCormick added one apiece.
