Residents who want to personally judge candidates before casting a vote in the race for the bench in 52-2 District Court will have the opportunity at an upcoming event.
The Oakland County Bar Association, in partnership with the League of Women Voters and the Detroit Free Press, will host a live and televised judicial candidate forum beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Clarkston Junior High.
The school is located at 6595 Waldon Road.
Each of the four candidates for 52-2 District Court Judge, Honorable Dana Fortinberry (incumbent), Joseph Fabrizio, Fred Miller and Mark Lyon, will each have the opportunity to make opening and closing statements, as well as answer questions presented by the panel. The event is open to the public; admission is free.
The 52-2 District Court serves the entire Clarkston News coverage area’the City of the Village of Clarkston, Independence Township and Springfield Township’as well as the townships of Brandon, Groveland, Holly, Rose and White Lake, along with the villages of Ortonville and Holly.
According to the OCBA, the purpose of the forum is to disseminate information about judicial candidates and to assist Oakland County citizens in becoming more knowledgeable and informed voters.
The OCBA will hold Judicial Candidate Forums for six Oakland County courts before the August 5 primary: Sixth Circuit Judicial Court, Oakland County Probate Court and 45A, 46th, 50th, and 52-2 District Courts.
All candidate forums are open to the public. Campaign attire and materials are not permitted inside any of the candidate forums.
