Just ducky

The 2nd Annual Orion/Oxford Duck Race, held Saturday in downtown Lake Orion’s Children’s Park, was a great success.
A total of 1,268 pink, blue and yellow plastic ducks were sold, raising $6,340 for the Oxford/Addison and Orion Youth Assistance programs.
Anticipation filled the air as the excited crowd watched the armada of toy ducks float down Paint Creek towards finish line.
Eric Rutledge’s duck won first place, earning him a cool $999 and quacking rights for the next year.
Gary Rentrop’s duck finished second, which won the Oxford Township attorney a brand new iPod.
Coming in third and earning a $200 prize was Dan Romano’s duck.
Winning fourth place and a gift basket was Dennis Wolff’s duck.

More than 1,300 plastic ducks were dumped into Paint Creek Saturday as part of the Oxford/Orion Optimist Club’s 10th Annual Duck Race and Family Picnic, which took place at Children’s Park in downtown Lake Orion. The ducks are sold for $5 each and the money raised benefits local youth. Pictured is club member Bert Quinn. For more photos, see this week’s Lake Orion Review.
