The Lady Cats went 1-1 on the soccer field this past week. Unfortunately, they suffered a 1-3 loss against Lake Orion April 28.
‘The kids played well missing two starters and every minute contributors, so we had major holes to fill and we filled them well,? said Head Coach Rob Euashka. ‘We kept ourselves in the game until the last 13 minutes or so when we gave up the second and then had to push forward which led to the third. Overall it was a good effort given who we were missing and how we did as a team to make-up for it.?
Highlight players included Lauren Spencer. ‘She was great in net and kept the game close,? Euashka said. ‘Karina Parker and Emma Gordon did well to shut down their attack until the last 13 minutes when we ran out of gas.?
To make up their loss, the girls traveled to Rochester High on Thursday where they got a 2-1 win. ‘The kids came out and worked hard to get a two goal lead on a good team and surprise them with our consistent pressure and good attacking runs,? Euashka added. ‘The second half we were without some frontrunners, making it difficult to hold the ball and the wave of their attack once we moved into a more defensive position. Kids killed the game well and got a result against the first place team in league on the road, which was great.?
Highlight players included Gracie Freiburg who ‘shut down their attack? in the first half by denying their front runner the ball, according to Euashka
‘We ended up bringing Jade Schramm back to defense to mark their second target player who was super quick and tough, she shut her down effectively,? he added. ‘Karina Parker finished both her chances and we held on at the end due to a great defensive team effort.?
The girls record is currently 3-3-4 on the season and 2-2-3 in the league.
