Lady cat swimmers take third in league meet

The Lady Wildcat swimmers took third with 338 points in their league meet earlier this month Nov. 5-7.
They girls followed behind Royal Oak (584 points) and Farmington (394 points). Troy Athens finished in fourth’with 254 points, Avondale took fifth, Ferndale came in sixth, Hazel Park finished in seventh, and Southfield Lathrup took eighth’place.
‘Since we beat Farmington during the dual meet season, we will tie with them overall for second place in the league, Head Coach Jackie Rank said had some injuries and illnesses right at the end which made a second place finish difficult at the league meet, but the girls definitely rose to the occasion.?
She noted that almost all swims on Friday nights were improvement from the prelims on Wednesday.
‘Many of the times were personal bests,? she added. ‘My hope is that my swimmers and divers continue training in the off season and start the season next August in as good a position, if not better, than where they ended this season.?
In the 200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Liverance, Smith, Giannola, and Fredericks came in second’with a season-best time of 2:06.05. 200 Freestyle: Allison Miller came in ninth’with a personal best time, which also put her tenth on the All-Time Top Ten list. Danielle Kemp and Christina Boydston finished in 14th’and 16th’respectively.
‘In the 200 Individual Medley: Bella Giannola took third’place with a personal best time of 2:22.65, which moved her up to second place on the All-Time Top Ten list. Bella was also named All-League in this event. Emily Sovis and Hannah Schonfeld finished in 13th’and 14th’place respectively. 50 Freestyle: Taylor Curtis finished in second’place with a season-best time of 26.79. She finishes her high school career in second’place on the All-Time Top Ten list. Abbie Fredericks finished in 5th’place with a personal best time which moved her up to sixth’on the All-Time Top Ten list. Paisley Arent and Rachael Baker finished in 13th’and 14th’place respectively.?
Diving: Jaynee Butkiewicz finished her season undefeated with a first’place finish. She scored a personal record 304.15 points. She was named All-League in diving and she was one of the ‘Seniors of the Meet?. She is currently second’on the All-Time Top Ten list. Jenna Zeitner took fifth’place in the league with 248.40 points, which puts her thirrd’on the All-Time Top Ten list. Both girls will be diving tonight in the Regional Diving Championships. The top 12 divers in our region will continue on to the Division I State Meet on Friday, November 21 at Eastern Michigan Univeristy.?
100 Butterfly: Bella Giannola finished 3rd’with a personal best time of 1:03.64, which puts her third on the All-Time Top Ten list. Kayla Krebs came in 12th’place with a personal best time. 100 Freestyle: Taylor Curtis came in second’with a season-best time of 57.84. She finishes her high school career in second’place on the All-Time Top Ten list. Abbie Fredericks and Allison Miller finished in fourth’and fifth’place respectively both with personal best times. The finish their high school careers in sixth’and seventh’place respectively. Christina Boydston and Rachael Baker finished in ninth’and 13th’place respectively. 500 Freestyle: Danielle Kemp came in 15th’place with a time of 6:20.84.?

She finishes her high school career fourth’on the All-Time Top Ten list. Paisley Arent and Rachel Commons finished in ninth’and 10th’place respectively. Paisley finished her sophomore season ninth’on the All-Time Top Ten list.
In the 100 Breaststroke: Sam Smith took sixth’place with a time of 1:26.63. She finished her high school career in eighth’on the All-Time Top Ten list. Camden Little and Kayla Krebs finished in 15th’and 16th’place respectively. 400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Giannola, Liverance, Miller, and Curtis came in 2nd’place with a season-best time of 3:59.99. Bella Giannola’s lead-off leg was a personal best 100 freestyle time of 57.96. She finishes the season third’on the All-Time Top Ten list.
