After losing their league opener to East last Tuesday, Oxford traveled to the unknown on Thursday.
The unknown was new FML addition Clio, and what exactly they would bring to the table in the realm of girls basketball.
Looking for their first league victory, the Ladycats were down most of the game, but found themselves making a great comeback late in the fourth quarter.
Their efforts proved fruitless as Clio defeated the Ladycats 47-39.
Senior captain Mykala Salquist was lead scorer again for Oxford with 12 points as she was joined by freshman Joelle Harms at the top with 11 points.
Head coach Al Poynter was very pleased with his squad’s defense and added that the demise of the team were the offensive turnovers.
‘It was a good effort physically, but we have to be mentally tougher at both ends for the entire 32 minutes,? he said. Oxford’s record drops to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the FML.
Oxford continues the hunt for their first league victory and is set to play the Fenton Tigers at home on Thursday.
