Sunday, July 27, the Oakland County Sheriff Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious injury motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occurred on southbound Lapeer Road, near Summer Street, just after 1 a.m.
A 67-year-old Orion Township man was attempting to cross Lapeer Road from the east to the west. There are no crosswalks near the crash scene. While in the far right southbound lane, he was struck by a 1995 Nissan Sentra driven by a 26-year-old Pontiac resident. The male had three passengers, a 15-year-old male, a 20-year-old male and a 6-year-old male.
The victim was transported by Star Ambulance to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital and was subsequently transferred to William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan was placed under arrest and transported to North Oakland Medical Center for a determination of his blood alcohol level. Afterwards, he was lodged at the Oakland County Jail.

Wednesday, Jan. 16, disorderly person arrest on Lapeer Road. A 40-year-old Lake Orion man, who appeared to be intoxicated, admitted to stealing wine from K-mart. The wine was returned and the store did not wish to press charges.

Thursday, Jan. 17, operating a vehicle while intoxicated arrest on Heights. A 37-year-old Lake Orion man rear ended another vehicle at Lapeer and Heights Roads. He fled the scene, but police traced his license plate to his address. He was also arrested for leaving the scene of an accident.

The suspect proceeded to wait outside the building in a vehicle, and when police approached the vehicle, the man jumped out and ran.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Department was called in to bring a canine unit to track the subject. He was tracked and apprehended at Applebee’s. A subsequent search revealed over 100 prescription pills, an unspecified type of narcotics and cash.
The suspect was taken into custody for possession of controlled substance without incident.

Monday, Nov. 26, driving with an expired license plate and marijuana use arrest at the Sunoco Gas Station on Baldwin Road. Deputies smelled an odor of marijuana after pulling the vehicle over.

Tuesday, Nov. 27, possible personal protection order violation on Stonegate Drive. A 36-year-old man was arrested earlier this month for assaulting his wife. He was reportedly seen in the area watching her move into a new home.

Embezzlement reported at Office Max on Baldwin. An employee made duplicate receipts and refunded nearly $300 to himself. He admitted to the crime.

Wednesday, Nov. 28, vehicle reported stolen on Glenwood Court. Police pulled over a similar vehicle in Pontiac, but it is not believed to be related. A second vehicle, believed to be a ‘drop car? was located at the original scene and impounded for further investigation.

Disorderly conduct and trespassing arrest at the Speedway Gas Station on Lapeer. A man was verbally assaulting his ex-girlfriend, an employee at the store. The man was found to be highly intoxicated.

Domestic assault arrest on Hummingbird. A 40-year-old man was kicked and scratched by his girlfriend.

Retail fraud arrest at Nick’s Pizza & Keg on Lapeer. Multiple bottles of champagne were stolen and deputies apprehended the subject at Joslyn and Brown Roads. He was also cited for outstanding warrants and driving without a license.

Possession of marijuana arrest on Brown Road. A vehicle was pulled over for an improper plate when the drugs were discovered.

Thursday, Nov. 29, retail fraud arrest at K-Mart on Lapeer. Two female subjects attempted to steal nearly $100 worth of merchandise. One of the apprehended subjects was a juvenile.

Various items and $4,000 in cash reported stolen from a residence on Ravine. Deputies visited the apartment the next day looking for a suspect from Lapeer. Two individuals were arrested for marijuana possession, and packing materials and cash was also recovered.

Friday, Nov. 30, breaking and entering reported at Great Lakes Popcorn on Brown. Money was reported stolen from a deposit bag. The same establishment was robbed in October of last year and deputies believe the two incidents are related.

Marijuana use/possession arrest on Kimberly. Deputies were conducting a welfare check on a four-year-old when they discovered the drugs. The child was released to her father, while the mother and a 38-year-old Pontiac man were taken into custody. The man also had an outstanding warrant.
