Lakeville Elementary’s talent was on display last week as the school hosted its ‘Arts and Authors Day.?
The event offered parents the opportunity to view and appreciate students? written works as well as their artistic expressions in the form of paintings, sculptures, chalk pastels and even petroglyphs, which are carvings similiar to those created by prehistoric peoples on cave walls and rocks.
‘Pretty much everything they do throughout the year is represented in some way,? said art teacher Linda Dzurka.
Dzurka explained that elementary level art gives students the chance to ‘try everything and get to know everything,? then they can specialize in a medium or technique when they get older.
‘I think it went pretty well,? she said. ‘I received a lot of positive feedback from parents.? ? Editor C.J. Carnacchio
