Lane Car Company has grown.
Owners Jim Lane and Jon Burklow will open a new facility later this month at 110 Ortonville Road, the former home of Simms Chevrolet.
The 50,000 square-foot facility on about 10 acres will include six bays for full service repair, instant oil change and a complete body shop. The original Lane Car Company location, 2200 Ortonville Road, will continue to provide the same selection of vehicles.
‘We’ve expanded,? said Lane. ‘Thanks to all the return business of our loyal customers we’ve had over the past years, we’ve grown.?
The combination of both Lane Car Company locations will provide more than 100 vehicles to choose from. Lane opened his current location at 2200 Ortonville Road in 2005.
The company will hire an additional 12 employees.
‘We have a new section of vehicles in just about every day,? said Burklow, who has worked in the wholesale auto business for about ten years. ‘We search the country for the very best vehicles. Or if you’re looking for a specific make, year or mileage’we can do that, too.?
Lane Car Company also provides financing.
A lot of people have had a glitch in their credit over the past few years,? said Lane. ‘But stop in and see us, we offer all the major lending institutions.?
The facility, which had been vacant for about two years, closed due to the General Motors dealership restructuring plan.
Following a downturn in the economy, GM slashed the number of dealers nationwide by 42 percent, closing several local dealerships.
