LAX team off to slow start, but coach hopes for success

With a beginning record of 1-3, Wildcats Varsity Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Greg Normand is hopeful his Wildcats will be a successful team.
‘I have eight seniors who have been with me since their freshman year and hopefully we can turn the corner and not just beat teams we’re supposed to beat,? Normand said. ‘Seniors Austin Kreshock, Noah Grove, Nathan Tilley, Scott Randall, Lars Kokote-Joergen, Jared Tasch, Ethan Duke and Garrett Muscott will have to lead us this year. We’ve won 33 games in three years, but we want a longer run in the MHSAA post season tournament.?
Along with his leaders, Normand said he has 18 returning letterman on this year’s team.
‘Because of the high concentration of returning letterman, there are not a lot of spots for new players in 2015,? he noted.
As for tournaments, Normand said they are looking forward to challenge for the ‘OAA Crown.?
‘We have finished in second place the last two years,? he added. ‘This year we think we have a chance.?
When it comes to strengths of the team, Normand thinks his team can score, but knows they can defend.
‘We have one of the best goalies in the state in Jared Tasch,? he said.
As far as the league goes, Norman said their White division is ‘alright, but not really strong.?
The goal of the season is to win more than they lose.
‘But (it’s) mostly to just get better everyday and really be ready to play in May,? he added.
The boys will take the field next, this Saturday (April 18) against Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard at home. The game will begin at 5:15 p.m.
