Oxford Leader Editor C.J. Carnacchio picked up three more awards in the Michigan Press Association’s 2013 Better Newspaper Contest.
The 37-year-old Oxford resident earned third place in the Editorial Writing category for opinion pieces he penned opposing the Detroit Institute of Arts tax and the Oxford Public Library tax increase, the latter of which failed.

Regarding the story, the judges wrote, ‘The lead made me laugh. Interesting spin on a bull being shot. Overall, I thought the writer did a good job with working it into a serious spot news piece. Well done.?
Carnacchio earned another honorable mention in the Picture Story category for a photo page covering the 2012 Field Day at Lakeville Elementary.
The judges wrote, ‘Fun photos . . . Each photo is eye-catching and the photographer obviously worked the angles.?
