This year marks the 5th year anniversary for The Clarkston Project Summer Band Camp.
The weeklong day camp, beginning Monday July 12, was created by the Clarkston band directors to give area students with at least one year of band experience an opportunity to make music and meet friends while getting to work with all of the directors, professional music mentors, and older Clarkston bandmembers in a camp setting.
Students meet Monday through Friday at Clarkston High School. They take part in full band, sectionals, technique classes, and chamber ensembles.
For those students who wish to stay an additional two hours each day, jazz band is an option.
Activities during each day also include faculty recitals, traditional camp games, and themed dress up contests.
Each student receives a brightly colored Clarkston Project T-shirt. On Friday of camp week, a cookout is held for participants, family, and friends followed by the Camp Concert held in the CHS Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m.
The camp is held from 9 a.m-3 p.m. each day and those choosing to sign up for Jazz Band will stay until 5 PM.
The cost for The Clarkston Project is $200 for those doing both Concert and Jazz or $175 if a student opts only for Concert Band.
