Learning games from other lands

Last Thursday, kids participating in the Fun-in-Sun summer camp through Oxford Parks and Recreation got to travel around the world for ‘International Day.?
The kids played games popular in foreign countries such as a Brazilian variation of tag. They also got to create an international picture frame.
‘This is the first year that these camps are taking place in Oxford High School and the children love it here because we can go swimming everyday,? said Sasha Popa, on-site coordinator for the camp.
Besides playing games, the children and their counselors discussed life and customs in other countries.
‘We have some students from Mexico, so we get to talk to them about what special things they do at home,? Popa said.
‘Everyone really seems to be enjoying the camps because our numbers have grown and everyone is always laughing,? Popa noted.
The camp runs from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Oxford High School and has before care from 8 – 9 a.m. and after care from 5 – 6 p.m. to allow more children to be able to participate in the camps.
Each day there’s a new theme and campers take part in different activities that offer fun, education and exercise.
