Dear editor,
Team Luby (aka Luby’s Boobies) completed its 4th Susan G Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3Day walk raising just over $48K. During August’s hottest days, this year’s team of 19 each raised a minimum of $2,300 and walked 60 miles over three days while camping in pretty pink tents for the weekend. If you are not familiar with this team’s efforts, Luby’s Boobies was started after Kathy Luby was diagnosed with breast cancer. In September 2007, with the support of many, Kathy led Luby’s Boobies in their first 3Day walk in the midst of chemo treatments and surgery recovery efforts. She walked every single mile ? no complaints, no hesitations, and no regrets’her courage, strength and passion were an inspiration ? her fight became the team’s fight, and they have been changing lives ever since.
Since Kathy’s passing in 2008, the team has continued passionately what she started. This year will mark the team’s 5th 3Day walk ? and again each walker has agreed to raise a minimum of $2300 in donations. The year’s Susan G Komen for the Cure breast cancer walk will be held in August 2011. In the past four walks, the team has raised and donated nearly $280K, raised breast cancer awareness, and impacted the lives of several women on their journey of survival.
To kick-off this year’s fundraising efforts, the team will be hosting an event at JDs Key Club (Pontiac, Michigan) on Friday, November 19th, doors open at 7:30 p.m. and dueling pianos begin at 8:30 p.m. Please join Luby’s Boobies for an evening of fun ? for tickets and more information or if you would like to walk with the team, contact Don Luby at 248-390-8145 or Kris Edwards 248-797-5921. Or send an email to TeamLuby@live.com.
Team Luby would like to thank the entire community for its continued and amazing support!!
