Goodrich Martians Softball
The Goodrich Martian Softball Boosters are excited to show that hard work and community support really pays off. The boosters have been on a mission to raise fundraising dollars to provide necessary upgrades to their home field. Their field hasn’t had major changes since the 1990s, but now have completed Goal 1, which is a brand new regulation height outfield fence donning banners of community supporters. With the generosity of local businesses, alumni, community members, and family supporters, they will soon be completing their next goal, replacing the sidelines and backstop fencing to playoff worthy standards.
The Martian Softball Boosters wish to thank all who have contributed in making this dream a reality for our Lady Martian Softball Program!

Speeding
I am addressing the ongoing issue of speeding in the Village of Atlas on Gale Road. I live in one of the original homes, built in 1917 by the Gale family. I have lived here and owned it since 1976 – over 48 years. I have seen the traffic increase dramatically over the years. But more recently, careless speeding has been outrageously increasing.
We have a school bus stop across from my house. There is a dangerous curve. We have a post office with a great number of cars coming and going. Many houses are homes to young children. There are deer crossing from the east to the old railroad grade to west.
The posted speed limit is 35 mph, which is seldom observed. And yet, since it is a residential area, should it be 25 mph? There are 38 homes in less than half a mile on Gale Road. Several buildings are apartments which house more residents.
The Village of Goodrich is discussing rerouting trucks. That would only increase problems with traffic and speeding.
I am not the first to address this problem. I know my neighbors to the north and west have tried, and I have in the past. We need help in managing this dangerous situation. I would appreciate any help in resolving this.

Sewers in Brandon
I have recently been asked when sewers are coming to Brandon Township. The Township Board participated in a sewer study by ROWE Engineering that looked at connecting certain M-15 corridor districts in Brandon Township to the Kearsley Creek Interceptor. If all goes according to plan it will take 5-7 years to bring the interceptor down Dixie Hwy in Grand Blanc. It will take additional years to bring it to Brandon Township providing Groveland Township is on board. The current projected cost is $35,000 per unit without any additional funding. The complete results of this study can be viewed on Ortonvilletelevision.com. You can find it by clicking on the Brandon Township tab and scrolling down to the 9-11-23 meeting.
