Dale Bond Birthday
The importance of local journalism to a community was brought home yet again by your article about the celebration for the 95th birthday of local living legend Dale Bond.
Mr. Bond is perhaps best known throughout north Oakland County as an authority on area history.
Less well-known is that he holds 24 patents for devices and systems that have performed complex operations in automotive industry plants. Many of his inventions did large jobs that saved time, increased productivity and safety, and improved quality, benefitting car manufacturers and their customers. Many of his ingenious systems did something that “experts” said couldn’t be done–until Bond devised a way to do it.
Among his many other activities, he has taught scores of area residents how to tap maple trees and make syrup the traditional way.
He is also an author, having contributed unique materials to area libraries and organizations, as well as having written a chapter of a locally popular book that raised funds for a needy charity.
By running the article on Bond’s birthday gathering of his five generations of family and friends, The Citizen showcased an important feature of life in Brandon and Independence Townships.
