Lighthouse honors Westberg at award ceremony

Kyle Westberg of Lake Orion was one of eight recipients of the Lighthouse of Oakland County’s 2003 Beacon Award.
The award is given in recognition of exceptional dedication for furthering the mission of Lighthouse, and were presented at their annual meeting luncheon in November.
Westberg graduated from Lawrence Technological University and has extensive hands-on experience in building projects throughout southeast Michigan. He has a degree in architecture and is certified by the Building Association of Michigan as a Master Home Builder. Westberg is married and father to three children, and serves as president of West Construction Services, founded in 1972.
West Construction is a major contractor in the construction of new homes in the Unity Park neighborhood of Pontiac. To date, they have built six new homes for Lighthouse Community Development, a subsidiary of Lighthouse of Oakland County, and have served as Lighthouse’s general contractor in the construction of a new home built by students from Oakland Schools.
Presently, Westberg and his firm are overseeing the construction of two additional student-built homes in Unity Park through the Lighthouse/Oakland Schools partnership.
Westberg has shown strong leadership in the redevelopment and revitalization of Unity Park, and his interests extend beyond new construction to assisting Lighthouse in home improvement and providing advice regarding future development plans. Westberg is a team player, working alongside other contractors in improving Unity Park.
Lighthouse of Oakland County was founded in 1972 to help low-income families and seniors in need, and is a non-profit agency providing client-centered services that move people from poverty and crisis to independence and self-sufficiency.
