Lights, cameras, BABES

Over 200 babes took the streets Thursday, October 3 for the second annual Babes on Broadway. Twenty different downtown businesses participated in the event offering goodies to registered participants. All proceeds–around $2,000– go to Haven, a nonprofit organization in Pontiac for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Spearheading the event was Marcella Costin, owner of Marcella’s, a unique jewelry and apparel boutique downtown. ‘This year we actually doubled the money that we made last year, and we were proud of last year, so it’s a great success,? she said. ?’It is a close community, it’s a downtown, and they’re fading, and that’s the reason I came here. I wanted to be in a small community where people could have a lady’s night and go from a restaurant to business to bar to keep that close knit community.?
