Lions? Christmas tree sale still growing

Atlas Twp.-It’s been more than 30 years since the first Christmas tree was carried off the Goodrich Lions Club lot at 9169 M-15.
Bill Tappen, a Goodrich Lions Club member for about 35 years, says the first few years of the project they cut their own trees near Luther, Mich., located in Lake County.
Now that tradition continues.
While the trees from Luther are long since gone, the Goodrich Lions Club will be selling Christmas trees brought back from Lake City in northern Michigan. Hours to go and pick out a tree are 2-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon – 6 p.m., on Sundays.
The sale will continue through Dec. 23 or until all the trees are gone. The trees range from 5-10 feet tall and include Douglas fir, Fraser fir, Balsam fir, Scotch Pine, Blue Spruce and Black Hills spruce. Prices vary according to the size of the tree. All proceeds from this sale stay in the community.
