Lions open new hoops season with a win

The Lake Orion Baptist School ‘Lions? opened their 2007-08 season last Friday at home, topping the Heritage Christian Eagles of North Branch 51-38. It was the first game of the season for both teams.
The Lions jumped out to an early start in the first quarter with a 20-5 score and led 30-10 at the half.?
The bench got a lot of playing time in the last three quarters and especially the fourth quarter, which led to a good opportunity to try several combinations on the floor.
The Lions were led by co-captain and senior Ben Cuyler with 10 points, five rebounds and six assists. Co-captain, Matt Dobis, a senior center, followed with nine points, seven rebounds and a block.?
Point guard James Moreno had eight points, three steals and four assists. Senior Eric Dewar had seven points, Zach Halleck added six and Matt Cameron had five points and 12 rebounds.
The Eagles? Josiah Bryers caught fire in the final two quarters with six three-pointers and 25 of his team’s 31 points.
The Lions host the Junita Christian Eagles from Vassar on Friday in a non-conferance game.’Games start at 4 p.m. for both the girls and boys junior high and varsity.
