With the days finally getting longer, both Clarkston SCAMP and the Clarkston Lions Club are ready for action in the coming months.
The Lions Club is teaming up with Independence Township Parks and Recreation for Easter festivities on April 8 and is prepping for White Cane week which runs April 28-May 6. The Lions Club’s next meeting is March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Clintonwood Park. Clancey announced at the March 9 Lions Club meeting that 372 scampers attended the five week program last summer. Approximately 90 percent of SCAMPers have one or more disabilities, including autism, mental or emotional impairment, learning disabilities, speech and language delay or physical handicap. The remaining 10 percent are identified as ‘at risk? by school personnel and in need of a positive summer experience. SCAMP was able to raise $122,000 through five major fund-raisers last year.
