Lions wrap up regular season this week

Last Thursday was seeding time for the Michigan Association of Christian Schools (MACS) annual Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament representing schools from across the state.
The MACS is made of two divisions based on a school’s ninth-12th grade enrollment.’Lake Orion Baptist School’is in Division?1 of the Association.?
The varsity girls team was seeded #6 in their division.’They received a’bye in the first round and will be playing Community Baptist School of Saginaw, a #2 seed.?
The varsity boys team was seeded #3 and also received a bye.’They will be playing the winner of Bridgeport Baptist Academy of Saginaw and Calvary Baptist School of Midland.?
The Lions will host the winner of that game at the Lion’s ‘Den? on Tuesday Feb. 26 in a quarterfinal match. The semifinals and finals will be held Feb.?29-March 1 at a location to be determined.
In regular season games this week, the Lions first traveled to Troy to battle the Christian Leadership Academy.’The game was close early on, but the Lions pulled away in the second and third quarters for a 78-62 victory.
Zach Halleck held the host’s 6?4? Sam Howard to 10 points for the game. On offense, the team was led by a pair of triple-doubles from their senior co-captain.
Matt Dobis had 27 points, 20 rebounds and 13 steals (nine blocks), while Ben Cuyler had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Halleck added 15 points.
Last Thursday, the Lions traveled to North Branch’to play the Heritage Christian Eagles for their second match of the season.?
Leading by just one point heading into the final quarter,’the Lions pulled ahead, out scoring the Eagles 30-15 for a final score of 68-52.? Cuyler led the Lions with 21 points and Dobis added 19 points and 11 boards.
The Lions? record is 16-5 overall and 7-2 in the FBAC.
On Thursday, the Lions will travel to Rochester Hills Christian for the final game of the regular season and the final game of the FBAC.?
The game will determine the conference champion, as the two teams are tied with two losses in the conference. Tip time is set for 7 p.m.
