LO astronaut to be honored at education dinner and dance

This year’s dinner, dance and auction will be on Saturday, Nov.8 at the Canterbury Castle, 2325 Joslyn Court, Lake Orion.
The cocktail reception and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
The Lake Orion Education Foundation will present their honoree and guest speaker, Dr. Andrew J. Feustel. He will give a keynote speech at 8 p.m.
Dr. Feustel is a NASA Astronaut and Lake Orion High School graduate. He will give a speech about his life as an Astronaut.
Selected as a Mission Specialist by NASA in July 2000, his training included five weeks of T-34 traning at Naval Air Station VT-4, Pensacola, Florida.
Dr. Feustel is assigned to the final Space Shuttle mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. The mission will extend and improve the observatory’s capabilities through 2013. Launch is targeted for 2008.
Dr. Feustel is set to receive recognition as he is honored throughout the evening, from Orion Township, as well as the prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award from Lake Orion Community Schools.
Tickets are available now at $100 each. All proceeds will benefit the children of Lake Orion Schools.
