LO girls golf team starts strong

The Lake Orion girls varsity golf team headed north to Brighton on Thursday, Aug. 20 for their opening round of competition.
Playing at Huron Meadows Metropark Golf Course, the Lady Dragons took to the tees placing second out of 20 teams with a score of 329.
Senior Lauren Danielson placed second overall shooting a 76 while Senior Megan Miller followed up with an 83.’Helping the girls secure the second place slot was JV golfer and Freshman Ashley Yearwood who shot one stroke above Miller giving her an 84. ? ?
The following day would prove much more rewarding as the girls varsity team walked away with two titles at the Lapeer Country Club. The Dragons dominated the Summer Tune Up with a team score of 318 beating Bloomfield by 23 shots. South Lyon finished the tier with a score of 348.
The individual stand out was Lake Orion Junior Moyea Russell, who medaled by shooting a four-under par ending her round with 70.
‘It’s only been a week but I really like the chemistry on the team,? girls JV golf coach Ron Grubbs said.?’The girls seem to get along well and have all have a good sense of humor.?
