LO girls’ tennis team has a busy week

It will be a busy week for Lake Orion’s girls? varsity tennis team as Eric Bracciano’s squad has four days of matches scheduled followed by a weekend tournament.
On Monday, the Dragons lost to Rochester Adams, 5-3, to fall to 3-2 on the season.
The group is a young one, since seven of the 12 players on last year’s team graduated.
That means there will be ample opportunity for underclassmen to excel.
There are five sophomores and one freshman on the team and Bracciano said that bodes well for the future.
The team also has a handful of five seniors among the 14 team members.
They are Rachel Alexander, Kylie Barber, Alyssa Bowden, Kayla Bruner, Elizabeth Cunningham, Skylar Dawson, Colette Doran, Gabrielle Garlicki, Phoebe Holmes, Carley Jarvis, Jassica Laconis, Kaila McCormack, Kendra Nylen and Sophie Partington.
‘We are very young. We graduated seven of 12 girls. This is a rebuilding year with several sophomores and one freshman. ‘It is good for the future, though. Good things will come if they work hard. We are trying to build experience.?
Bracciano said he expects the lady Dragons will be in the middle of the pack in the OAA White but they could improve that standing as the season progresses.
The team is entering a busy period of the season with matches this week on four consecutive days followed by a
tournament on Saturday at Romeo.
Bracciano said he expects good showings from junior captain Sophie Partingon at number one singles and senior co-captain Rachel Alexander.
On Monday against Adams, Lake Orion picked up wins at numbers 2 and 3 singles. Carly Jarvis and Phoebe Holmes got those wins in singles.
The Dragons? earned another win at No. 2 doubles, as Colette Doran and Kayla Bruner won in straight sets.?
