Local artists? work for sale

Artists from the ‘Thursday Brushes? painting group will be showcasing their work this weekend, Nov. 11-13, at Diamond Dave’s, 424 South Lapeer Road, in Lake Orion.
The event is being sponsored by the Orion Art Center. Director Reggie Harrison said the women, residents of Lake Orion, Oakland Township, Rochester and Romeo, meet weekly to paint together. Their collection of artwork will be for sale just in time for holiday gift giving.
The show features an opening reception on Friday, from 7-9 p.m. and then will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The artists will be conducting live painting demonstrations over the course of the weekend.
‘These ladies are the real deal,? Harrison said. ‘They are all quite talented and I am excited to see their latest works on display.?
The Thursday Brushes group includes Janet Almstadt-Davison, Barbara Clay, Denise Dunn, Christina Haylett, Tina Hoene, Mary Marple and Bobbie Tarbunas. Many of the ladies painted at the Dragon on the Lake event this summer.
The show is a pre-sale to the Orion Art Center’s Holiday Market, which will also be at Diamond Dave’s from December 1-22. It will feature more than 50 local artists in all mediums.
