Local firefighters tackle Hero Rush

A handful of Oxford and Addison firefighters tested their endurance limits for a worthy cause by participating in Michigan’s Hero Rush held Saturday at Upland Hills Farm in Addison Township.
Beneath the blazing hot sun, these fearless men and women tackled 19 challenging obstacles spread out over a course that was approximately 5 miles long.
Participants found themselves running up stairs, sliding down poles, searching for victims, carrying fire equipment and stretchers, getting soaked by water and foam, and finally, leaping over flaming logs to reach the finish line and sweet relief.
Proceeds from the Hero Rush benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the National Firefighters Endowment.
Representing the Oxford Fire Department were firefighters Carl Rose and Darin Balinski. Balinski’s wife Kristine also participated.
Representing the Addison Township Fire Department were firefighters Kyle Klein, Tracey Detrick and Rob Fitzpatrick.
