BRANDON TOWNSHIP- Douglas Newberry, 18, a 2002 Brandon High School graduate was deployed in northern Iraq last week. Newberry, is part of the United States Infantry 173 Airborne Battalion. “Douglas explored service as a sophomore at Brandon High School,” said Charles. “His conviction and dedication to his country and the events of 9-11 was his motivation to join.”
His father added that Douglas will likely stay after the military phase of the war is completed to help rebuild the country.
