Elizabeth McGhee, a Brandon Township resident, died Nov. 10 when the single-engine plane she was piloting crashed in Ray County, Mo.
She was 57.
According to The Kansas City Star, McGhee was traveling alone from Michigan to Wheeler Downtown Airport when she lost radio contact about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The plane was located by authorities at about 9:45 p.m. after a search of the area near Missouri 13 and Route B. An investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
Elizabeth was a long-time pilot, as well as the mother of nine children and proud grandmother. She had a passion for missionary work and used her medical skills frequently in travels to Africa. She was also an active 4-H Club volunteer.
She would have celebrated her 58th birthday Nov. 12.
