It’s always fun to be the first success at anything.
And for Lake Orion High School’s Logan Shadaia becoming the first recipient of the inaugural Michigan High School Coaches Association Class A, Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year was pretty cool.
Shadaia is the kind of student-athlete that epitomizes what a student-athlete should be. He graduated last week from Lake Orion with a 3.6 GPA, which earned him the Lake Orion and Oakland Activities Association scholar-athlete awards.
The three-sport star earned all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors in football, wrestling and track. His leadership was evident by being chosen as a captain by his teammates and coaches.
Logan was nominated for the state honor by Lake Orion Athletic Director Bill Reiss.
‘Mr. Reiss called and told me about it and a couple of weeks later he told me I won,? Shadiai said. ‘It’s really cool, especially being the first one to receive the award.?
Shadaia will attend Hope College in the fall and will play football.
He played on the varsity for three years as a Dragon, spending time at running back and middle linebacker.
In track he threw the shot put and discus and in wrestling he competed at 215 pounds. He was a three-sport star for three years.
Logan plans to major in biology at Hope and said the courses he took at Lake Orion have prepared him very well for his upcoming collegiate life.
He credited teachers and coaches, Tim Polonkey, Reiss, Chris Bell and principal Steve Hawley, with helping him during his high school tenure.
Logan is the son of Duraid and Linda Shadaia. He has two siblings, Cameron and Paytin.
