LOHS band raising money to travel to Washington

Local musicians will be marching down Independence Avenue in May 2006.
Members of Lake Orion High School’s marching band has been invited to march in Washington DC’s Memorial Day Parade.
The kids (along with their parents of course) are paying for this trip themselves. The Band Boosters and the parents are hoping to raise the money with a little hard work and ingenuity.
Over $100,000 is needed for the trip. More than 150 kids and chaperones are going by bus.
The first fundraiser was a car wash sponsored by Mike Ceritano, owner of Alexander’s Car Wash in Lake Orion on Oct. 8.
The fundraisers are having several ‘Kroger Intercept? Can Drives at the Kroger on Indianwood/M-24. Students will be asking people to donate their returnables as they enter the Kroger store. They will be there on Oct. 30, Nov. 13, Nov. 20, Nov. 26 and 27.
Band members are selling Little Caesar’s, Achatz and Coldstone items in their neighborhoods. Kids will be wrapping presents at Border’s after Thanksgiving.
On Nov. 19, the band will host a spaghetti dinner at the Gingellville Community Center from 4-8 p.m. The center is located on Waldon Road.
That same morning, the students will have a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. with entertainment by students, a bake sale all day, a silent auction during the dinner.
Anyone in the community who has fundraising ideas is welcome to call Erin at 248-814-0976 or email her: erinwaugh@aol.com.
LOHS? marching band is competing at Lakeland on Oct. 29 at state final competition on Nov. 5 at the Silverdome. They’ll be performing their current show called ‘Rachmaninov.?
