The Michigan Youth Theater’s production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest will be performed May 11-13 at the Old Brandon Township Hall in Ortonville.
The production cast includes Lake Orion’s Ellen Meyer, an LOHS junior who will play the part of Miss Prisim.
Wilde’s play on and with proper, improper and preposterous manners has delighted audiences for over one hundred years.
During the weekend of the show, MYT will host two Victorian inspired teas and have a ‘Box Social? raffle to raise funds for theater space.
In addition, this summer MYT will be hosting programs at the Clarkston Community Education Building.
Any student ages 12-19, who pre-registers through Clarkston Community Education, will be included in their performance of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.
MYT will provide theater workshops from Aug. 6-11 for children ages 7-19. Students do not have to be Clarkston residents to participate.
Michigan Youth Theater was founded in January of 2000. Their mission is to develop leadership, teamwork, and communications skills in youth ages 12 to 19 through theater production experiences.
MYT offers professional quality, classics-based theater education for both community schools and audiences of all ages.
