The Orion Art Center hosted their Fourth Annual Fashion Show, ‘Hats off to Spring,? on April 1 at the Boulder Pointe Golf Club and Conference Center in Oxford.
Over 100 people attended, and proceeds from the $30 tickets will benefit the OAC’s programming, according to OAC Director Reggie Harrison.
‘This could eventually move towards being a mother-daughter event,? Harrison said. ‘This year we showed teen fashions for the first time.?
Adult and teen fashions from Coldwater Creek, 5-7-9, Windsor and Gottahavs were modeled in the show. Guests were also able to shop at various booths, selling everything from purses and clothing to makeup and flowers.
Eight sophomore girls from Lake Orion High School modeled the teen fashions in the show.
Fashion show chair Sherry Curtis said she had planned to ask Coldwater Creek to be a part of last year’s show, but was too late. She said she begins planning next year’s show right after one ends.
‘We work on it all year,? she said. ‘There’s something for everyone.?
The event included numerous door prizes, raffle tickets sold to win a hat with $100 in it, as well as a buffet lunch.
‘The community donated the door prizes,? Harrison said. ‘The Orion Art Center is fortunate to be a part of a such a wonderful community.?

The Women’s Federation Club of Lake Orion spent the morning of Oct. 27 making sure the landscaping around the Orion Veterans Memorial is ready for next spring. The club members planted perennial bulbs at the memorial, located at the corner of Lapeer Road and Odanah. Jacobsen’s Flowers in Lake Orion provided the bulbs and assistance.
