Reed Losee, 16, said he learned how to walk by kicking around a soccer ball.
All of that kicking has paid off this year as Losee scored 24 goals and 15 assists to help the Dragons beat Clarkston High School (last year’s state champions) and go on to win their Division I district championship.
‘This is the first time since I have been on the LOHS soccer team and beat Clarkston,? said Losee. ‘It took us eight tries to beat them, but we finally did it.?
Losee gives credit to his coach, and his team.
‘Our coach made some really good decisions this year. Plus we became a very close team, and that really helped our teamwork,? said Losee. ‘My coach also taught me how to play a different game, which helped me improve this year.”
Soccer Coach Matt Paukovits said he moved Reed into a new position which put him further away from the goal.
‘Reed became a better and more complete player this year,? he said.
Paukovits said Losee is the number one ranked player in the district.
‘Reed is the player on every one of our opponents? coaches? minds that they need to pay attention to,? said Paukovits. ‘He has really worked hard for everything he has accomplished this year and has a whole lot of character for a 16-year-old.?
Paukovits said Losee also helps young kids in the community as an assistant coach at the Lake Orion Soccer Club.
“Reed loves to give back to the game and the community,” said Paukovits.
Giving back is what Losee said he plans to do when he graduates.
‘I hope to attend Notre Dame and study to be a coach some day,” said Losee..
Losee said playing in the Olympics would be the ultimate goal.
The professional soccer team Losee said he likes to watch is A.C. Milan in Italy.
‘My favorite player on that team is Kaka. I have been watching him play for the longest time.?
