Loss, tie for Cat sluggers

The OHS varsity baseball team hosted Rochester for a doubleheader on Wednesday May 2.
OHS lost 6-3 in the first and then, in the later match called because of darkness, played to a 4-4 draw.
Other than ‘the first innings of both games? Coach Jeff Willis is ‘pleased with the efforts? of his varsity diamondmen.
Colin McGeen, Ryan Kitching, Liam Logan, and Nate Morris all had multiple hits, while both relievers, Billy Deig and Nate Brubaker pitched shutout innings for the Wildcats.
However, there ‘were mistakes that cost us,? Willis admitted. He pointed to two examples where the Wildcats had runners in scoring position, yet failed to bring them home.
Despite the loss and draw, Willis said his players are upbeat. ‘They know they can play with anybody and beat anybody,? the Wildcat leader said. ‘We’ve started slow this season, but if we keep putting the ball in play, the breaks will come.?
