LOYBL President Bill Bieser recently announced that Karl Basigkow, Bill Hitchcock, Eric Kuster and Garry Reynolds Jr. would represent the league’s first induction class. The men were presented with commemorative jackets at a recent board meeting and will be recognized with plaques at the season-ending picnic on June 24.
‘Youth baseball would not have endured and flourished for nearly 30 years in this community without the volunteerism and dedication of people like these men,? Bieser said. ‘These four Hall of Famers have served in multiple roles over the years and they’ve had a positive impact on many past and present baseball players. They epitomize everything that is great about our league.?
Basigkow, 56, has been involved in Lake Orion community baseball for nearly 22 years. During that time, he has served as board president, coach, chief of umpiring and helped with league purchasing decisions. He resides on N. Long Lake Road.
Hitchcock, 53, has been a part of LOYBL for 10 years. He has served as a commissioner, coach, sponsor and umpire, as well as serving on purchasing, fundraising and rules committees. He lives on Clute Court.
Kuster, 46, has been involved with LOYBL for nearly 12 years, serving as a board member the entire time. He has held the posts of league president and vice president, as well as working on scholarships, fundraising and education committees. He has also coached for more than a decade. Kuster resides on Acadia Drive.
Reynolds, 47, has been active in LOYBL for 10 years. He has served as a coach, commissioner, umpire and field development supervisor during his stint. He lives on Minton Street.
