The Michigan Department of Transportation began resurfacing a 4.9-mile stretch of M-24 May 3, and will do the work at night to ease the project’s affect on traffic.
One lane of north and south M-24 will be closed for resurfacing work from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. through June 22. The projects spans from Clarkston Road in Orion Township north to approximately 300 feet north of the Oxford Village limits in Oxford Township.
The Clarkston-based contractor, Cadillac Asphalt, is permitted to work seven days a week, but that will depend on weather conditions and the company’s discretion, according to Rob Morosi of MDOT. Morosi said MDOT would like to limit construction to Mon.- Thurs.
Permanent striping and adjusting drainage problems could continue on the project until the end of July. Morosi said the project is ‘capital preventive maintenance,? taking a road still in good condition and lengthening that good condition by another five years.
