Pontiac- Former Brandon Township resident Jason Thyrion was sentenced by Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Nanci Grant to 4-15 years in prison on Jan. 16 for assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder. He was credited with 248 days served.
It was about 9:53 p.m., May 12, when Brandon deputies were called to the 3600 block of Pinoak Street in the Sashabaw Meadows Mobile Home Park. According to police reports, Joshua Beurman’s girlfriend was visiting this address, seeking refuge from Beurman, who was drunk and being verbally abusive. Beurman came to the residence looking for her, began yelling, and was asked by the 36-year-old male homeowner to leave. The pair fought and Beurman left, but returned minutes later with a golf club and Thyrion, who had an unknown edged weapon. The homeowner’s three young daughters were witnesses as Beurman struck the man on the head with the golf club and Thyrion slashed a 5-6 inch long laceration on his lower stomach.
The victim was taken to Genesys Regional Medical Center and required several stitches to close his wound.
Beurman was sentenced on Aug. 15 to 4-20 years in prison for assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and felony habitual offender third offense.
