The Village Council has approved the placement of four historical markers that will be placed around downtown’s historical district.
The markers, which were purchased through the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Orion Historical Society, will help identify the area of the village that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The proposed locations are on the east side of S. Broadway at the Cole Memorial Bridge by Children’s Park, the south side of E. Flint in the island at Washington Street, the southeast corner of M-24 and Flint and the southwest corner of M-24 and Shadbolt.
Council member Michael Toth said that he is excited to have these markers put in as not everyone realizes Lake Orion has a historical district.
‘It’s a pretty good honor to have,? he added.
Council member Ken Van Portfliet commended the Historical Society for all of their hard work.
