Clarkston High School Marching Band members celebrated the New Year on Greenwich Mean Time. In London, England, they counted down to midnight five hours before family and friends in Clarkston.
The next day, they joined more than 10,000 performers representing 20 countries world-wide for the 2011 New Year’s Day Parade in London. The were invited to participate last September.
More than half a million people watched the parade as it marched its two-mile route from Piccadilly to Parliament Street via Trafalgar Square. Back home, folks celebrated at local nightspots and parties, at home watching TV, or just with a good night’s sleep.
