Despite denial by the state of McLaren’s Certificate of Need (CON), the first reading of McLaren Hospital building plans was July 17 at the Independence Township board meeting.
The proposed four-story hospital will include a transfer of 200 beds and 50 additional specialty beds. McLaren representative Greg Lane said they are appealing the CON denial and will likely file suit in federal court.
The appeal process takes 60-90 days. Plans for the McLaren hospital are available for citizens to view on www.twp.independence.mi.us.
