The village council concurred with recommendations from Hubbell, Roth & Clark and the Downtown Development Authority, awarding a bid of the Meek’s Park Bridge to W.C.I. Contractors, Inc.
The project was put on hold twice, once in Feb. 2007 when only one bid was received, and again in Nov. 2007 when there were concerns over the bridge being too elaborate.
The DDA’s engineer determined that the bridge was, in fact, not over-engineered. The only modification to the bridge is changing the decking material from Trex decking to wood decking.
That modification made W.C.I. the new low bidder at $89,775. Faust Corporation was the low bidder for a steel bridge, at about $10,000 higher.
