The sun shone strong for the first time in nearly a month, Monday — just in time for a grateful community to honor their military heroes, both living and dead.
Annual Memorial Day events included grave-side ceremonies at Eastlawn Cemetery, a parade downtown, wreath throwing into Paint Creek, US Air Force jets flying over and a solemn ceremony at the Orion Veterans Memorial. Whether or not the weather was warm, large numbers of the community came out to pay their respects.
