Memorial trees to honor late residents

The lives and accomplishments of two longtime Oxford residents who recently passed away will be celebrated 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 in Centennial Park.
The late Dr. David Jennings and late Mrs. Irene Awrey will each have trees planted in the park in their memory.
Dr. Jennings was a general practitioner, community leader and beloved public figure in Oxford for 45 years. He passed away Sept. 14, 2004 at the age of 77.
Mrs. Awrey worked at the Oxford Post Office for 41 years, serving the last 8 years as postmaster. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ.
She passed away Oct. 10, 2004 at the age of 97.
