The 15th annual Mike Quinn Golf Classic will take place on May 8 at Copper Hills Golf Course on Lakeville Road in Oxford, with a 1 p.m. shot gun start.
The tournament is a four person scramble or a four person team with a 50 or more handicap. A party will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Lake Orion at approximately 7 p.m., featuring dancing and live music by ‘Just-Us 3.? The cost is $100, covering golf, cart and admission to the party, which includes dinner. To just attend the party, the cost is $35.
Hole sponsorships are available for $500, $250 and $100, along with prizes, foods and/or service donations. The Mike Quinn Golf Classic started in 1990 to raise money for Mike Quinn, a local Lake Orion youth with leukemia, who passed away in 1991. This year’s event will benefit Weston Schroeder, who will be 3 on May 1, and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in July of 2002 at the age of 14 months.
Schroeder is currenty in his ‘maintenance? phase of his protocol and is receiving chemotherapy. He is the sixth of seven children, and his father is a F16 pilot in the Michigan Air National Guard and is currently deployed in Iraq.
